There's also another popular diving site in Karangasem: Amed. If you are afraid behind mask, Amed also offer you snorkeling sites within metres of the shore. A reef follows the majority of the coastline and is quite close.

Due to the limited number of visitors to the area and a growing conservation awareness among the locals, the sea life is healthy and abundant. There is a World War II Japanese shipwreck just a few kilometres further east along the coast, in the village of Banyuning and is great for diving and snorkeling with abundant coral and fish life. This dive site is locally known among the dive operators as the “Japanese Wreck” and is clearly signposted with car parking.

You will see a lot of free diving school available in Tulamben or in Amed. The most favorite bay in Amed for free diving is Jemeluk bay, where the sea currents are less strong and has deep coral walls.

Karangasem's beaches are mostly black sands. But there are hidden, secretly-knowned white sand beach in Padang Bai harbor, called Bias Tugel beach. And the most mesmerizing one is at Perasi beach, perched among two cliffs and safe for kids.

Tenganan, northwest of Candidasa, is situated about 5km from the main road. Tenganan is a symmetrically laid out Bali Aga village with a walled homes and unique crafts. The people of Tenganan are skilled in the unique technique of weaving, called the 'double ikat', where the belief in the magical power of the fabric is essential in bringing out the beauty of the ikat clothes.

For those who loves cycling and trekking, there are lot of cycling tracks available in mountaineous area of Karangasem, either down-hill roads or off-road tracks between paddy fields that you'll love to.

Ujung Water Palace is a former palace in Karangasem Regency, Bali. Now, this palace also known as Ujung Park or Sukasada Park. It is located approximately 5 kilometres from Amlapura

4 temples are accessible on this mountain that seperates Amlapura and Amed. The path is a steep staircase type access, but the vegetation and the landscape is magnificent. It is common to have a bit of passing fog, but this give a very mystical atmosphere. Access is approximately 20 minutes by car. Time of visite about 3 hours.

Fabulous water garden scaterred with Balinese sculptures. The basins are full of giant Koi carpes and shelters a lovely fontaine. There is a temple located in the water gardens and traditionnal cermononies are frequent. You can also grab a drink at the Tirta Ayu restaurant dominating the garden. They make excellent ice creams and desserts. Access is approximately 25 minutes by car, time of visit about an hour.

On the road to Tirta Ganga, at approximately 20 minutes by car from Tulamben, you can stole through some of the most beautiful rice fields of Bali. Ideal for a little outing in the afternoon after diving. On a nice day you will be able to catch a glimse of Lombok Island in the distance.
